As an adjunct senior research fellow attached to the School of Business at the University of New England, Armidale, NSW, I engage in local government research. My particular focus is on council mergers and reform of Australian local government.

In October 2015, Federation Press published a book co-edited by Professor Brian Dollery of UNE Armidale and myself titled "Perspectives son Australian Local Government Reform" and comprises twelve Chapter contributors.

My present research relates substantially to NSW local government reforms in the period from 2011 to 2017. My next book has the working title - "New South Wales Local Government Reform 2011-2018: An Insiders Account". The work will describe and offer insider comment on the local government reform initiatives introduced in NSW over this period, during which the writer was engaged by the government in significant aspects of the reform process.

This work has been delayed because of my role as a Councillor and Mayor.
